Chemical Dependency Services

Open in 1985, the chemical dependency treatment center continues to stress the back-to-basics approach to recovery from addiction.  The program is an abstinence-based form of treatment, which relies on the 12-step model of recovery and the educational/group therapy model of treatment.  Oakview offers adult and adolescent programs, accredited by The Joint Commission and is licensed as an addiction treatment center by the state of Ohio.  Family involvement is a major component of successful recovery as addiction is a family disease.  Oakview's family program offers educational and group sessions addressing issues of the disease concept, enabling, detachment and the roles family members play in family dynamics.  Particpation in Al-Anon or other 12-step recovery groups is recommended.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment
This level of care involves counseling/educational activities from three to five hours a day, with both morning and evening opportunites.

Continuing Care
This aftercare program is for the patient who has successfully completed intensive outpatient treatment.  The intensity of the program is decreased to one group therapy session per week, continuing for several months into recovery.

Adolescent Chemical Dependency Treatment
Most adolescents are treated in an intensive outpatient program.  This treatment program meets thre to four days a week in the afternoon/early evening, after school.  Parental involvement is extremely important and expected.  An Early Intervention Program also is available for teenagers who are not addicted to drugs or alcohol, but have negative consequences from drug-experimentation or abuse.  The teem comes to Oakview two to three times weekly with parental involvement.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Patients diagnosed with chemical addictions as well as other mental illnesses are able to receive coordinated treatment from the Oakview multi-disciplinary treatment team using outpatient mental health programs as needed.
