Southwest General Offers both Emergency Services and Urgent Care Services for the communities it serves.

 

When Should You Go to the Emergency Room (ER) for Care?
The ER is designed to serve anyone with a potentially serious illness or injury. It is the best place to receive care for serious, immediate health concerns, such as:

  • A sudden or unexplained loss of consciousness
  • Chest pain
  • Trouble speaking, weakness on one side, trouble seeing, trouble walking
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach or abdominal pain
  • High fever, stiff neck, confusion
  • Coughing up or vomiting blood
  • A cut or wound that won't stop bleeding
  • A possible broken bone or severe muscle sprain
  • Depression
  • Trauma


Southwest General offers Emergency Services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year at the following locations:

What Do Urgent Care Centers Do?
Urgent Care centers treat patients with minor illnesses or injuries that require immediate care.  They do not treat major emergencies or life-threatening conditions. If a patient’s condition proves more serious than originally suspected, the patient will be transferred to an Emergency Room. Southwest General urgent care services include:

  • Care for minor illness or injury, especially evenings and weekends when physician offices may be closed
  • Employer health services such as physicals, drug screens and care for injured workers
  • Sports, worker’s permit, camp and back-to-school physicals
  • Strep tests
  • Flu shots
  • Free blood pressure screenings
     

Southwest General provides urgent care services from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, seven days a week for family members of all ages—no appointment is necessary. Urgent care is provided at the following locations:

A Few Important Points
When in doubt as to the nature of your problem, it’s best to be checked. At both the ER and Urgicare Centers, patients receive care from team of professionals, including skilled, board-certified physicians, nurses, and technicians.  You will be asked to provide information about your insurance, medications, allergies and chronic health conditions as well as your physician's name and phone number. We will do everything possible to relieve your pain and discomfort and to diagnose and treat your problem. 

  

Southwest General accepts most major insurances. Charges for Emergency and Urgent Care services differ, as Emergency services are designed to address a higher level of illness or injury.
