Main Lobby Renovation Underway

Rendering of the new Kedia Family Atrium

Southwest General is transforming the Main Lobby of its hospital in Middleburg Heights to better serve patients and families. Construction is currently underway and is slated for completion by October 31, 2024.

When completed, the new space will be named the Kedia Family Atrium, in recognition of a generous donation from Dr. Kailash Kedia and his family, which helped make the renovation possible.

The new Kedia Family Atrium will be a bright, modern space that is both welcoming and inviting for patients and visitors. It will feature a centrally located Information Desk offering easy access to help with directions, service questions and other needs. Additionally, there will be ample, comfortable seating as well as refreshed café and lounge areas for relaxation and dining.

What to Expect:

  • Construction Area: Barricades will be set up around the construction area for the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
  • Elevator Access: The Main Lobby elevators are currently unavailable for accessing the first floor. Please follow signage and use the west and/or Pre-Admission Testing elevators instead.
  • Information Desk: Two, temporary Information Desks will be available during construction at:
    - The Building A entrance
    - The Circle of Oaks entrance (in the main corridor of the hospital—also known as “the spine”).
  • Restrooms: The Main Lobby restroom will be closed during construction. Restrooms are available on the basement, second and third floors.
  • ATM: The ATM has been relocated from the Main Lobby to the lobby of Building E.
  • Spiritual Care and Chapel: These services have been temporarily relocated to the second floor of Building D (between 2D Acute Rehab and the Medical Staff Office).

Getting to Your Destination

The following instructions should help you reach your destination during construction, and clear signage will be posted throughout the hospital to guide you. Additionally, our staff is here to help. Please don’t hesitate to ask for directions!

  • Outpatient Services: To access the Outpatient Center, Outpatient Pharmacy, Twenty 4 Seven Market and Corner Shop, use the covered walkway between the main corridor and the Building B entrance.
  • Surgery and Heart & Vascular Institute: Use the Building B entrance, and follow the signs to the Pre-Admission (PAT) elevators, second floor.
  • Main Radiology, Vascular Laboratory and MRI: From Building C and Seidman Cancer Center: Take the Main Corridor (Spine Hallway) to the Circle of Oaks Information Desk. Take the steps (or ramp) and go past the west elevators. Turn left before the 1DOU Nursing Unit (do not enter unit). Continue down the hallway. Follow the overhead signage for Radiology. Check-in at the Reception Desk.

When completed, the new Kedia Family Atrium will offer a welcoming and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff. We apologize for any inconvenience during construction, and we appreciate your patience as we work to create an improved space to better serve you.
