Middleburg Heights, OH (March 8, 2024) – Dr. Kailash Kedia, a board-certified urologist on the Medical Staff at Southwest General, has made a transformative gift of $1 million to the Southwest Health Foundation. Dr. Kedia’s gift will be allocated toward a complete remodel of the hospital’s Main Lobby to enhance the patient and visitor experience at Southwest General. Renovations on the new “Kedia Family Atrium,” will begin this year, and include a new visitor desk, expanded patient seating and updated furniture in the cafe and lounge area.

Additionally, to honor Dr. Kedia’s long-standing tenure at Southwest General, the hospital will rename the Emergency Department the “Kedia Center for Emergency Medicine.”

“I’ve worked at Southwest General for more than 40 years. It’s a wonderful hospital, so what better place to support than where I provide care,” says Dr. Kedia, who made the generous gift together with his family to honor the memory of his late son.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Dr. Kedia and his family,” says Chris Burdon, executive director, Southwest Health Foundation. “Dr. Kedia’s commitment to Southwest General through his decades of providing outstanding care as well as his philanthropic leadership, will greatly benefit the communities we serve.”

As the sole fundraising arm of Southwest General, the Southwest Health Foundation plays an instrumental role in funding critical hospital updates and programs. Prior to this donation, the Foundation most recently leveraged several major gifts to renovate Southwest General’s Maternity Center, including a Special Care Nursery for higher acuity patients.
