Southwest General provides excellent, family-centered maternity care. Families delivering at Southwest General can expect:

• Large labor and delivery rooms with high-tech equipment and private baths
• Private postpartum rooms beautifully decorated in soft, soothing colors
• Two nurses present at every delivery, one for mom and one just for baby
• A Constant Care Nursery for any newborn who requires incubator support
• Easy access to advanced maternity and neonatal services through our partners at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital
• Assistance with breastfeeding:
  • All nurses are trained to offer help with and encourage and support 24-hour breastfeeding
  • A lactation consultant on site to help with breastfeeding
• Kangaroo Care, a special technique for bonding with your baby
• The choice to "room in" and keep your baby with you or have your baby cared for in the Nursery when you need your rest.
• Overnight stays for partner(s) who want to be with mom and baby. Partner(s) receive a complimentary breakfast the next morning.
• Appetizing and nutritious meals as well as access to a kitchen on the unit where patients can help themselves to snacks and beverages.
